The Metal Gear series have always been great games and confusing to many but you can't deny that the Long cut scenes are something to either bore you or excite you. MGS: Peace Walker is the next game in the metal gear series, taking place between MGS 3 and 4.
The last several MGS psp games Hideo was not involved in any of them but in this one he spoke publicly that he is involved in this psp game. As soon as you boot up the demo you greeted with a cut scene of Snake walking down the beach late at night with the rain coming down on him as he walks towards his men training. This is where the tutorial shows you all the moves for Snake. As you follow the motions and learn how to do certain mechanics, some new mechanics are introduced in this game. The close quarter combat ,or as they say it CQC, there is a move in there that is new to the series. Instead of the usual punch, punch, kick to knock an enemy down, you can grab them from behind and throw them down wrestling style. There is also an option to knock out your enemy by just holding the R trigger and put them to sleep. The new move they did introduce is that when you are surrounded by multiple enemies as you grab one to throw to the ground in front of you, you can also grab the next enemy next to you right after by clicking the R trigger again and tilting the analog stick in the direction you want. This new move was a new and interesting mechanic thrown in for CQC.
As you finish the tutorial you are then shown a very stylize look cut scenes that are in the form of motion comics in the same art style as the metal gear, shown here. As the story plays out in the cut scene you are introduced to two new characters in the story, Professor Galvez and Paz. Galvez seems to be a character that could be hiding something more then he is leading but he seems almost the same vain as Otacon is. Paz is a mysterious girl that is also voking for peace and ironcly her name Paz means peace in Spanish. Both characters are a very interesting duo and seems that Paz may play a major role in this game. lol quick note, as you are introduced to Paz you have to option to zoom in on her and you see different outfits of her as you zoom closer but you can zoom in all the way to her panties and bra. For some reason I think Hideo is channeling his inner pedo as stated in the demo she is 16 year old. A child as Snake's says so yea.
The controls to the game you can adjust in the settings but they are two options, one of them you can choose the controls to be shooter controls as they put it. It's essentially the same control scheme as it is for Metal Gear solid 4 which is a very cool option. Where you select your weapons, items, reload, with the d-pad while you shoot with the R trigger and adjust the camera with the triangle, X, square, circle buttons. The other option at the moment I forgot what it was called but it's just the reverse where the d-pad is now used for camera and the other buttons are for your main actions.
The gameplay of the game reminds me very much of and looks like Metal Gear solid 3, where you have to take cover in the background to match your outfit so that you won't be detected. The new feature they added in this game is the ability to do CO-OP with another person. When I played this demo I played it single player but did see spots where a buddy would help me get to places where I could get to, to better the chances of hiding and getting through the level. The one thing I noticed while playing was that there was more emphasis with sound around your enemies. Where if you run or jog you make more sound and making it easier for the enemy to be alerted. You have a sound tool that helps you tell you how loud you are and how loud your enemy are near by. The other thing is that the A.I. in this game is not the brightest compared to the last Metal Gear games. At one point I alerted one of the guards by being spotted in the open. I proceed to take him out when the other guard was headed my way to see whats going on as I sneaked into the cover again and come up behind him and grab and put him to sleep. Oh, did I mention, I took care of his buddy in front of him like 5 feet away from him and he didn't noticed me till I was behind him. yea the A.I. needs some work.
As you finish each mission in the demo you are shown a screenshot of the release year and date for Metal Gear Solid: Peace walker game and it felt like it was one of those subliminal advertising tv ads. Overall the demo came out strong from beginning to end, there were some issues with the A.I. that needs some tweaking and little things and the option to take care of the mission any way you want but that aside, it was a great demo. You can grab the demo online and find it anywhere really. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker comes out on May 25, 2010.
