The second, all new installment, Mirai-hen, will be released on April 25, 2015, and tell what happens to Mirai and her friends a year after the initial storyline.
Director Taichi Ishidate, had this to say about the new films:
“This story is about an eighteen and seventeen year old boy and girl. Both extraordinary but wanting to be normal, and desperately in love. I want them to be happy. I want both of them to build a figure for themselves as best they can. That’s what I’m thinking about as I put this movie together. I hope everyone will come to see their journey together."
