_ 2011 was an exciting year for gamers with the release of fantastic action packed games. Batman: Arkham City, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, The Elder Scrolls VS. Skyrim and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations made their debuts on screens across the globe this year. Forget all about those great games as the earth finishes one more cycle around the sun because 2012 is going to be a phenomenal year, the likes of which gaming has never seen.
It is hard to say which game will top the charts, but these guys have a pretty good shot at taking home the gold.
_ BioShock Infinite. This is the third in the first person shooter, BioShock series, even though it isn’t expected to follow in direct order of time or plot with the previous BioShock games. It is thematically similar, but both setting and time period are both going to be different this go around.
_ Mass Effect 3. Spike’s Video Game Awards dubbed Mass Effect 3 as the most anticipated game of the year. Unlike with the BioShock series, Mass Effect 3 will let you import saved files from Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 to shape your gaming experience in the new game based on the data. Neat huh?
_ Diablo III. Remember Diablo II from over 10 years ago? Even though it topped charts in 2000, makers over at Blizzard premiered World of Warcraft and sort of forgot all about the Diablo franchise—until now. Well until they announced they were working on a new installment in 2008.
_ Halo 4. This will be the start of a new trilogy for the Halo series, the “Reclaimer Trilogy”, and is expected to pick up where the old series left off.
_ Tomb Raider. Gamers will have to wait till the fall for release of the start of a new Tomb Raider trilogy, but after 8 previous games it is understandable that this one will take a while to hit the screens.
_ Grand Theft Auto V, The Last of Us and Prey 2 may also have their say in the top slots next year, but let’s remember what’s important—there’s going to be a bunch of really fantastic games out there next year!
