Alright let me first start off and say, yes I know I been telling you guys I will do the review for the past several weeks and now I am finally getting around to it. Aside from that my impression on Nyan Koi! was that it looked cute and eechi, but as they say you don't judge a book from its cover.
Junpei Kōsaka is a second-year high school student who despises cats and has an allergy to them. It just so happens that his high school crush is Kaede Mizuno, a girl who adores cats. One day, while walking home from school, Junpei kicks an empty can and unfortunately breaks the local neko-jizō-sama (guardian deity of cats). He finds he can now understand what cats are saying, including his family’s own ill-tempered cat, Nyamsus. However, if he does not grant 100 wishes to cats, he will turn into a cat himself and die from his own allergy. And the fun starts from there at least what I have thought.
see what I mean? As we follow Junpei along in the series he comes across the 1st 5 eps of the intro to each character entering his cursed life as he is trying to make up 100 deeds and try not to get turned into a cat if he ever wants to get somewhere with Kaede. There are some parts of the anime where it goes give off good fan service but at the same time keeps it light hearted spirit and eechiness for most of the anime. The relationships with the group seems to be as light hearted and eechi as it can be. The one twist factor in the anime I have to say is that with some anime characters out there, there is a lot of the guys look like girls and vice versa. I was confused on one of the characters whether if he or she for the longest time till the end of the episode where you find out via accidental touch touch. But then I would say more then a little more halfway through the series the anime starts to get cliche' to the point where your telling yourself you seen this before.
who sleeps like that? honestly lol Soon the anime takes off in the cliche school anime where suddenly the main character does the right things finally at the end only to be embarrassed in the end right in front of her. But then realize as the hint on the last ep that they will eventually be up together weather this anime goes on for another season or not. All the support characters support him in any way as they laugh and shout and such like every other school anime. Even with the magical powered twins I still think this anime fell flat. At the end of the series it hints of having a 2nd season which I don't think this anime deserves a 2nd season.
rather it be an ova then a 2nd season This series ran for 12 eps long and having this plot in mind and the characters set I was ready to what this anime was going to be. The problem is that it started off with something interesting but then just falls stale at the end. Your have the support characters, Nagi Ichinos, Kotone Kirishima, Akari Kirishima, Keizou Kirishima, Chizuru Mochizuk, you have the love triangle with Junpei's child hood friend, Kanako Sumiyosh, and his love interest, Kaede Mizuno, which seems like all of this is set up well. If you are a person who have seen a lot of school theme animes this is no surprise for you. Each character on its own is great and has a very great personality to each one of them, but what this series did was fail to use them well. I am not going to give out a score as in my point of view people should watch anime on judgement calls and not scores so if you are a cat fan and want some anime to do with cats, well yea here you go. But for everyone else I would stay clear of this one unless you want to be reminded of cliche school anime theme. Not even cat ears could save the last half of this series. written by Anthony Beanes source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyan_Koi!
This MMORPG, in word I love to say a lot, awesome. There's no other mmo I can think of that has Mabinogi's kind of style of gaming...well maybe Runescape..but I've never played that (WHO PLAY'S THAT ANYMORE?!)
Mabinogi is hosted by Nexon (soon to be called Block Party, a MySpace-type like mmo hoster.) The game has elements of combat, (PvE and PvP,) every-day jobs, normal quests, mainstream quests, skill-hunting, exploration, treasure hunting, character customization, blacksmithing, refining, mining, tailoring, music playing...and I'm probably forgetting the rest since I've never really played everything, but as you can see, there's A LOT to do. And the way they made the cel-shaded graphics and the emote-expressions, it's the prefect anime-type mmo atm. The music is great too.
This is Nao, the hot and moe mascot character of Mabinogi. (I totally want her as an anime fig! xD)
To be more detailed with certain systems, it goes like this. Most players just wanna fight. Others just wanna hangout and chill and talk. Others just wanna...iunno what else is there for a basic computer game? Anyways, what makes Mabinogi unique is that you TRULY can make your character what you want to be. For example, you want to be a sword-wielding archer that can shoot fireballs? Go ahead! You can wield anything as long as you find the skill for it from an NPC.
Speaking of skills, it uses AP (attrib. points.) that'd prolly be your only stress in the game. AP is hard to manage after a certain amount of time playing so you should consider which skills you want to rank up first.
Next comes skill ranks. Starts from the lowest "novice" to F, E, D, C, B, A, then to some starting number I forgot leading up to rank 1. Then you can choose to "master" the skill but I heard it's very hard.
Fighting, itself is pretty unique, cuz you can't just press a skill button and then *bam* it happens, well the 1st skill you can, but after that, you have to chain it so that you won't get hurt by the enemy afterwards (example atk>def>counter>def>atk and so on)
The non combat features of the game, tailoring, blacksmithing, mining, etc., are normally used when you are of higher lvls. Because buying the equipment for the stuff costs a lot.
Speaking of lvls...THERE IS NO LEVEL CAP. Meaning you can go up to level 9000 if you could. Not possible you think? At the moment, there are some that are at level 4000+ in the game. You can do this through rebirthing and basic lvling up like in other games.
As for rebirthing, Mabinogi has an Age system where after every real life week passes, at Sunday noontime PST, your char will age a year older become stronger and such. You will be able to rebirth at age 20 and choose to go back to age 10-17. Your lvl will go down too BUT your normal lvl will stay the same. (Keeps record of your normal level before and after you rebirthed every time.) Rebirthing gives you extra stats as well as more AP.
Ok..with all this good stuff in the game, there are a couple of negative sides to it. You know the old saying to F2P games...ok not really old but you hear that "This sux cuz all this good stuff, you gotta pay!" lol. (I call the F2P acronym "Forced 2 Pay" instead, lol.) Well Mabinogi is one of those games where if you don't pay, you're limited you many things in the game, but you can still manage, but more slowly that other people who have paid. So that's pretty much the main peeve of the game.
Overall, it's a great anime game, sound, music, gameplay, mascot (hehe..,) and other stuff. I love it, 10/10

Yo. Nate here, over the holiday I got REALLY bored so I decided to try out some new games. The problem was that, most games I've tried out...we're already tried out by me, ha...So I decided to think "hm...what's new to me, appeals to most and all of that crap. Competition, fast pacing, and everything action!" (This applies to the MMOs I tried out and not the normal games fyi.) So I thought...why not try out some sports MMORPGs? doesn't sound bad right? And srsly the 2 I tried out delivered, big time along with the MMO I revived back then as well as a new game I started to play from Eidos. I'll be reviewing Mini Ninjas, ACE Online (aka Air Rivals,) along with the sports MMOs, FreeStyle Online and Drift City Online.
Mini Ninjas
An action/adventure game suited for all consoles including the PC, Mini Ninjas provides a cartoony environment and fast detailed ninja animation for all ages.
You start out as the main hero, Hiro (hero, get it?) As well as your best friend Futo, a big bulky ninja who likes to eat. As you both set out to find your friends and try to beat off the evil Samurai along the way. It's a basic Ninjas vs Samurais deal making the Samurais the evil dudes.
The gameplay is pretty close to how you play Zelda or Assassin's Creed, which, if you were playing it on PC like me, is pretty fun and rare for a PC game since there are rarely any games like that out for PC, normally they are FPS/CoD types.
Pretty easy to deal with can't say much after that, I wish the ending boss had more of a challenge though, I give the game an 8/10.
ACE Online
AKA "Air Rivals Online" in the EU, this space/planet shooting MMO is one of those unique ones. I haven't seen any other space shooters after all besides regular plane games.
In ACE, you get to choose between the A, B, I, and M Gears (the planes.) The A Gear is a flying tank, you can compare it to an anti-air weapon also powerful on the ground units from what I hear. The B Gear is the bomber of the Gears you can compare it to a shotgun if you don't understand me. The I-Gear is the speedy fighter of the Gears, you can compare it to an assault rifle if you don't understand. And the M Gear is support, kinda like a Medic or a priest.
You take on missions mainly if you're soloing. If you're in a guild, they'll be fleet wars etc. but I'd recommend you be a high lvl to do that, lol. I give this game a 9/10.
FreeStyle Online
I was a bit surprised with this game (I was more surprised that I chose to play a basketball MMO, lol.) But once I created my character, made my position and heard the music, I had a feeling I was gonna like it. (More fun if you know how to really play a bit as well ;) )
FreeStyle was several options in modes. In single player mode, there's tutorial which is convenient, episode mode, which is a standalone story mode for the NPCs you see around the site and wherever, and basic single player, which is 3 on 3, basic CPU gaming. And for multiplayer mode, you get your character and you play with other guys.
I haven't done much other than episode mode atm, I just finished Alice's story and doing Francis' part of it. Basketball lovers will lover this game I'll assure of it. As for non-basketball people...not so sure...because of this, I'm going to rate this 2 ways. I give it a 8/10 for basketball lovers, 6.5/10 for the regular people.
Drift City Online
I didn't think much of this game at first, but once I started playing this...daymn...lol. Not to mention taking advantage of it's MP3 jukebox with your favorite music reeeallly gets the game going!
Drift City isn't an original racing game, you basically drive around the city doing missions like arrestting these cars called HUVs by bashing into them while they drive off, there's also checkpoint quests, trailing quests and others i haven't unlocked yet. The game has many game modes, yet I've only played with about 1 of them, battle mode which is basic racing against people. There's ones called "undercity", where a party is sent to an instance type dungeon and each has a quest for there own. Completing them all receives tons of stuff.
You don't need a gamepad for a joystick to play this. It's suited for the keyboard. The graphics are great for a cel-shaded type. If you are to play this, I suggest starting off with the car named "Drifter." I give the game a 9/10.
Around past September, CANAAN, finshed airing. So I finally was able to catch up to it due to the piles of anime stored up. So here's what I've got.
This mark on the wrist plays a major role in the anime.
Unlike most anime, this story is told in China, which is a nice new place for scenery. Not only that, there are some dialogue told in Mandarin and in English (due to the in and out Chinese and Americans in the anime.)
The story is mainly about journalists' Osawa, Maria and Kenji going to China to make some kind of headline to bring back to Japan. Maria, being Canaan's friend, also is expecting to see her there as well. What Maria and Kenji didn't realize is that they were going to cross paths into a biological warfare that's been hidden from the media for some time now. Not to mention it involved Canaan in a major way. I hate this bitch...anyone would
CANAAN is mainly a drama anime. Think of it as a CSI type show, only it's an anime with perks. Though it has action is many places, it's more qualified to be a drama type 1st, action 2nd. Created by Type-Moon and P.A. Works, if you know Type-Moon type anime, then you'll know how this'll go. P.A. Works made anime like "True Tears" and the upcoming "Angel Beats!" CANAAN's a short 13-episode anime, no OVA or extra, personally myself I don't see any 2nd season in order, but many people do. I give this anime a 7/10.

This girl's hilarious
I'd wanna see what he can do on the track...
Today's review is on Kannagi. The story start's when a boy named Mikuriya, Jin finishes up an art project for school, which is a wooden statue made up of a recent torn down tree. When Jin tries to bring it to school, lo and behold the statue turns into a real girl named Nagi. The story continues on from there with things like "impurity" elimination and so forth.
This anime is mainly of the comedy genre, yet it has some romance and others in it. It's animation's uniqueness sets the stage fairly well. It's a sweet 13-episode anime plus a DVD special so it's good enough to watch the whole thing in a day without interruptions from anyone. Personally, I wished it were about 25 episodes. Hoping for a 2nd season, myself. The anime gets an 8/10.
-Nate
