Alright lets get one thing straight, Just Cause 1 did not have a story per say but more of an excuse to dick around in the game and do some crazy shit. In the case of the Just Cause 2 demo, it seems to follow that format but with better graphics and more toys to play with it. Just Cause 2 demo gives you a pretty big chunk of land to look around, and at the beginning of the demo cut scene I laughed at the horrible voice  acting and plot in the demo. I was pretty impressed by the amount of havoc you can do in this demo and, yet, this game would be a good pick up or rent.

Upon downloading the demo, like I said you are given this big chunk of land to roam around in, and the way you go from one place to another is all up to you. What you are equipped with from the start of the demo, is a pistol, a parachute, your grappling hook, and the unlimited freedom you are given to toy around. As you go through the opening area, you are encouraged to play around with the environment, pick up new weapons, blow shit up, and to try out your grappling hook. The main draw to your arsenal is your hook as you can not only shoot it from afar and zip to it like spider-man style, but also you can attach to it to objects, including people, to create more creative ways to create havoc.  There is so many ways to go about this demo, and how you encounter each enemy. Say an enemy is near by and you see a gas tank, so what if you shoot your hook into the guy and then into the gas tank while you shooting it to blow it up? The ending result equals to a very fun kill. You are encouraged to make as much havoc as you want and it rewards you with points, cash, and leveling up to unlock more weapons and vehicles. 

The way you get weapons and vehicles throughout the game is either picking them off of enemies you  kill, taking a vehicle out in the open, or buying it through the black-market. The way the black-market is handled is that you have the ability to call in a helicopter to buy weapons, vehicles, and upgrades. The helicopter comes in as a cut scene normally greeting you with, "we are here to please" or, "May we help you?". As you buy your weapons, upgrades, and or vehicles they will be dropped right in front of you to pick up and you call in the black-market anytime during the game which is very convenient.  When you do spawn a vehicles and when you get in it you be able to see briefly the map of the controls, and usually they are pretty simple to understand. After that you are free to do whatever you want to do with your vehicle either hanging off of it and shooting or jumping out of it so you can let it crash into building while parachuting downwards raining death from above is all up to you. As I said you can level up your weapons and vehicles using the black-market. The more you level up your weapons the more explosive, deadlier, and better your weapons will be. Same goes for your vehicles as you unlock more and more. As you complete more of your main and side objectives, weapons and vehicles will be unlocked for you to buy if you wish to. Also around the game there are boxes filled with cash, parts for weapons or vehicles, and other goodies to grab hold to. The environment of this game takes you to many places weather it be a tropical setting like in the demo or to a snow covered field. This game is very open ended on how you can travel and how you go about your business. The way of traveling in this game is either by foot or vehicle, there is no fast travel, but its so very easy to get a vehicle and its not hard to get one.  Like I said there is no story in this game and its just an excuse for you to play around with the environment and the game knows that. The physics in this demo are pretty out there. This game is not meant to be taken seriously at all.

The controls to this game felt really nice. At first with the controls it took me about 5 min to get comfortable with the controls and from there it was smooth sailing. You can of course adjust the controls however way you want it , but to me the controls felt great. Compared to the first game, the graphics for Just Cause 2 is a leap up from Just Cause 1. I feel that the graphics were almost sort of like the 2 generation graphics of the xbox 360 and in this demo they really improved upon it. Sure there's a few textures here and there that you might not like but overall the graphics are good. It still has the simple artistic style sort of in the same vain of Team Fortress 2 but it keeps it consistent  through the whole demo. Overall this demo was great and it is a game I would love to rent. It's not much of a game for me to buy for 60$, but I would like to rent it or buy it for 30-40$ instead. Oh I forgot one last thing to add, In the ps3 version of the game you can link up your youtube account and record anything that happens in the game to send it to youtube directly. That means if any crazy shit happens and no one is there to see it, you can now show your friends online what you did. This demo is out now on Xbox 360, Ps3, and PC and the game is set to release this week.
